This free exhibit will take guests through The Seaport's centuries of growth and epic changes that have impacted New York City and the entire region. Achival materials showcase vintage streetscapes presented with the same views as they appear today allowing visitors to examine continuities and change over time at The Seaport. These momentous occasions will be demonstrated through multi media features and scale models representing the district during these crucial moments in history and culminates with an architectural model of General Growth Properties' proposed plan for the new Seaport.

• The Venue: Grand Central Terminal is an extraordinary Beaux Arts landmark in the heart of New York City . Grand Central is served by Metro-North commuter trains, 31 commuter and 15 city bus routes, 7 subway lines, buses to and from the area’s three airports and two million taxis a year. Vanderbilt Avenue is located on the west side of the Terminal.

• The Giant Earth Images: April 19th-25th; 10am-8pm. The week-long show will illuminate the historic landmark’s soaring main concourse with inspiring environmentally themed quotes, messages, photographs and graphic images contributed by artists such as Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, and Rafal Olbinski, among others. The show, projected onto two of the north columns in the concourse, will run 10 hours a day.

• EarthFair Indoors: April 19th -24th; We are planning a week long exhibit in Vanderbilt Hall from Monday 4/19 through Saturday 4/24 highlighting major substantive displays and exhibits.

• EarthFair Outdoors: April 23rd and April 24th; A two-day festival of art, music and the environment on Vanderbilt Ave. A large exhibit area highlighting green businesses, organic food and environmental groups will include interactive displays that not only educate, but provide an opportunity to take positive action. EarthFair also features live musical entertainment including numerous well-known performers and regional bands.

Peruvian Film Festival

PeruFest presents the most recent cinematographic productions from Peru. In a huge variety of styles and themes, these short and feature-films explore issues as social struggle and identity conflicts in contemporary Peru, political violence, mourning, family relations, and also constitute a reflection on the director’s own condition. Most of these young filmmakers have been awarded in festivals like: Cannes, Berlin, San Sebastian, amongst others. All films have English subtitles. Admission to all screenings is FREE and Open to the public.

PERUFEST is co-sponsored by: NYU King Juan Carlos I of Spain Center, NYU Center of Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS), NYU Department of Spanish and Portuguese, NYU Student Council of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, Panca Restaurant.

Program Notes
In this invigorating documentary, lonely hearts from all over New York City— from an ER doc and an equities trader to a construction contractor and a cop—meet in Spanish Harlem once a week at Santo Rico Dance School, where they learn the rich art of salsa. Under the great salsa dance teacher Tomas Guerrero's tutelage, they have only six weeks to rehearse for a public performance. Featuring music by Tito Puente, Eddie Santiago, Héctor Lavoe, Norah Jones, and more.

Immigrant Heritage Week


Declared an official, annual celebration by mayor Bloomberg in 2004, Immigrant Heritage week honors the vibrant immigrant cultures, heritages, and communities in every corner of the City.

This year Immigrant Heritage Week is celebrated April 15 through April 21st. Throughout the week a rich collection of family friendly events, film screenings, art exhibits and walking tours will promote and reflect the diversity of immigrant communities in New York City.
