Updates from 204

April slowly finds us easing our way back on track after an unrelenting winter; snow days, class suspensions, and pre-scheduled breaks. Hopefully, we will get a reprieve; glorious sunshiny days, blue skies, flowers in all its varieties and colors, all the greens there are - the symbols of life; - sans allergies. Oh, that would be perfect! But. . . . ..

Let’s start with a teacher who captures a teachable moment. Yolanda Ruiz handling PS10 & 11, happened to ask her class if they know what Barnes and Noble is.  Someone answered candidly; “It’s a store.” Yes, said the teacher, but what kind of store? “A shoe store.” One of the students said.

So preparations for a trip to Barnes and Nobles went underway. Here’s the happy picture of the eager students armed with shopping, travel, and, location vocabulary; along with their teacher, taking time to snap a pic at Barnes. They read magazines, browsed and bought books and other goodies for their children and themselves. Both of her classes enjoyed the trip plus: “Oh so this is Barnes and Noble!”

Congratulations! They are:
